It’s been a long week for the Wombats. You may have read on 3 News that the Wombats trekked across the Tasman to give the new Black Keas team a hand in their preparations for the Dodgeball World Championships in August. Their performance against the Wombats in the recent World Tour of Pacific Nations showed a number of areas where the Kiwis could improve and the Wombats put the Kiwis through a dodgeball bootcamp to help improve in areas such as throwing, catching, dodging and dodgeball strategy. The Black Keas showed a huge improvement over the weekend and will have their work cut out for them over the next 48 days to reach their full potential.

Although the Wombats were scheduled to return to Oz early in the week, the Wombats were delayed in New Zealand due to an ash cloud from Mt Puyehue Cordon Caulle. The team used the extra time for some team bonding and downtime. Wombats Tamas and Tim put their training in contemporary dance to use, spending some of the time with Shona McCullagh and others from the Rugby World Cup organisers assisting with opening ceremony choreography.
